Knoxville Tree Solutions | Tree Removal, Stump Grinding, Trimming & Pruning Specialist

Knoxville Tree Solutions is Knoxville’s locally owned tree service, and we’re proud to help our neighbors with tree removal, tree trimming and pruning, and stump grinding. Owner Mark Cooper is a Knoxville local, and we’ve spent 23 years in this business. On May 25, 2008, we officially expanded to serve more of the community, and we’ve been showing up ever since.

Most tree removals take a few hours to a full day, and stump grinding is usually done in one to two hours. Typical removals run about $400 to $1,800, trimming about $250 to $1,000, and stump grinding about $100 to $400, depending on size and access. We’ve completed tree removal and clearance pruning along Kingston Pike, and we’re happy to improve safety in this area. We’re dedicated to efficient service and dependability.

You should know who’s working on your property. We’re an ISA Certified Arborist team, TCIA accredited, and CTSP certified. We hold a general contractor license, a commercial pesticide applicator charter, and Tennessee One Call clearance certification. We carry workers’ compensation and $1M+ general liability insurance. More than a tree solutions company, we’re a hand always ready to help.

Our Knoxville Tree Solutions for Homes

Residential Tree Removal

Knoxville Tree Solutions handles residential tree removal, from large tree removal to leaning, hazardous, and storm-damaged trees. Before the first cut, our climber or bucket truck crew plans each drop, using sectional removal and controlled limb lowering for oak, pine, maple, or sweetgum trees near your house, pool, or in a narrow yard. Protective mats shield your lawn.

The result is a cleared yard, trusted by 70+ repeat customers in Sequoyah Hills, Fountain City, Holston Hills, and Chilhowee Hills.

Residential Tree Trimming And Pruning

Our ISA Certified Arborists, backed by TCIA accreditation and $1M+ liability coverage, perform residential tree pruning and tree trimming for Knoxville homes. Through roof clearance pruning, crown raising, and crown thinning, we fix branches over your roof, branches in gutters, and tree limbs against siding. We also handle hazardous limb pruning, oak and maple structural pruning, dogwood ornamental pruning, and dormant-season cuts. The benefit is a safer roof, a stronger canopy, and trees that stay healthy for decades.

Stump Grinding

Stump grinding and tree stump removal turn an eyesore into usable yard space. Our crew handles large stump grinding, multiple stump grinding, and deep stump grinding below grade, including stump grinding near your sidewalk or driveway. We follow with surface root removal, grindings removal, and stump sprout control, or remove the stump and backfill the hole with topsoil. Choosing stump grinding for replanting or landscaping saves you from tripping hazards, regrowth, and rotting wood that can attract pests.

Emergency Tree Removal

Knoxville Tree Solutions provides emergency tree removal and 24/7 emergency tree service for fallen tree removal, uprooted tree removal, and tree blocking driveway removal. When the August 2023 storm hit Knox County, our crews were on site fast, handling wind-damaged tree removal, hanging limb removal, and emergency leaning tree stabilization. We finish with storm debris cleanup. This is vital because a damaged tree can shift again, and a quick, controlled response protects your family, roof, and access.

Dead Tree Removal

For a safer yard, choose our dead tree removal, diseased tree removal, and dangerous tree removal. The Knoxville Tree Solutions crew picks the right method for each unstable or hazardous tree, from crane tree removal and sectional tree removal to bucket truck tree removal and tree removal with rigging and a ground crew. We handle ash, hemlock, oak, and dogwood tree removal, including tree removal over your roof or near your garage, leaving a clear yard.

Tree On House Or Roof Removal

Led by our ISA Certified Arborist, our crew handles tree on house emergency removal, tree on roof removal, tree through roof cleanup, and tree on garage, car, or fence removal. Crane-assisted tree removal, grapple crane tree removal, rigging, and controlled limb lowering keep heavy wood off your structure, even with tree removal over a pool. Protective mats guard your lawn, and tree removal with power-line hazard is referred to the utility first. That prevents further damage to your home.

Our Commercial Tree Services for Knoxville, TN

Commercial Tree Removal

Knoxville Tree Solutions delivers commercial tree removal for large tree removal, multiple tree removal, hazardous tree removal, and tree removal for construction. We use sectional tree dismantling and rigging, low-impact tree removal, and tree removal with ground protection, including tree removal near buildings and with limited equipment access. Tree removal with power-line hazard goes to the utility first. We also offer:

  • Crane-assisted commercial tree removal with grapple crane
  • Aerial lift tree removal
  • Stump grinding after commercial removal

Commercial Tree Trimming And Pruning

Our commercial tree pruning protects properties from limbs most owners assume are fine until they fall. Knoxville Tree Solutions handles deadwood removal for commercial property, crown cleaning, crown thinning, crown reduction, structural pruning, and hazardous limb pruning, clearing deadwood over occupied areas and hazardous limbs over structures. End-weight reduction, canopy weight reduction, and included-bark risk pruning reduce failure risk, while storm-readiness tree pruning and storm-damaged branch clearance prepare you for the season. Scheduled tree pruning keeps every canopy safe.

Clearance Pruning

Knoxville Tree Solutions delivers land clearing, lot clearing, and selective lot clearing for overgrown parcel clearing, building-footprint tree clearing, and access-road tree and brush clearing. Our crew handles brush and small-tree clearing, underbrush removal, sapling removal, and on-site wood chipping, using erosion-aware selective clearing on slopes. We also provide invasive understory clearing, including Chinese privet control, Amur honeysuckle removal, kudzu woody-vine control, and tree-of-heaven control. With 23 years in Knoxville, we leave your site ready to build.

Commercial Emergency Tree Removal

Our crew arrives day or night with 24/7 emergency tree service for emergency commercial storm tree removal, fallen tree removal, and tree on vehicle removal. We run downed tree access restoration first, clearing trees blocking access and tree-blocking driveway removal so your business reopens on schedule. Emergency hazardous limb removal, storm debris chipping and haul-away, and emergency tree and limb cleanup follow. Emergency tree removal with power-line hazard is coordinated with the utility, protecting staff and customers.

Forestry Mulching

Our crew handles overgrown parcel clearing in one pass, using forestry mulching for lot clearing to cut brush and grind it into mulch left on site. We take on underbrush removal, fence-line brush clearing, and selective woodland understory clearing, with erosion-aware selective clearing on slopes. Knoxville Tree Solutions also offers the following:

  • Invasive understory clearing: Chinese privet control, Amur honeysuckle removal, tree-of-heaven control
  • Access corridor vegetation clearing
  • Brush cutting and mulching and on-site wood chipping

Why Knoxville Homes and Businesses Choose Us for Tree Services

Certified arborists on every job

Knoxville Tree Solutions is led by an ISA Certified Arborist, which means our pruning, removal, and tree care decisions follow recognized industry standards. Our team also includes a Certified Treecare Safety Professional (CTSP), who helps keep larger commercial crews working safely. You get the right method for your tree, and the credentials that municipalities and commercial clients often look for when hiring.

Safety standards you can verify

Our TCIA accreditation shows we meet the Tree Care Industry Association’s standards for safety and professionalism. Our Tennessee One Call and utility clearance certification means we know how to work around buried lines and power infrastructure. For Knoxville homes and businesses, that lowers the risk of damage and delays on tight or hazardous sites.

Licensed and fully insured

We hold a general contractor license and a commercial pesticide applicator charter, which Tennessee requires for custom tree treatment work. We carry workers’ compensation and $1M+ general liability insurance, which many HOAs and commercial clients require before hiring. If something goes wrong on your property, you are protected, not left with the bill.

Local owner, 23 years of experience

Owner Mark Cooper is a Knoxville local, and we have served this community for 23 years. We know the area’s mature oaks, steep hillsides, and storm patterns, and we are a hand always ready to help. You deal with a neighbor who answers for the work, not a distant company.

How We Prevent Common Tree Service Problems

Most tree work goes wrong because of skipped steps, not the cutting itself. Here is what we do before and during a job, and why each step matters to you.

Checking the tree and the site before we cut

What we do: We look at the tree's condition, lean, and decay, and at what's around it: roofs, fences, pools, driveways, and power lines.

Why it matters: A tree that looks healthy can have hidden weak points, and a tree near your house leaves little room for surprises. Checking first lets us choose the safest method instead of finding problems mid-job. If a tree is near energized power lines, we direct you to the utility, because that work isn't something a private crew should do

Choosing the right method for your yard

What we do: We match the approach to the job, whether that's sectional dismantling, rigging, a bucket truck, a climber, or a crane.

Why it matters: Dropping a whole tree works in an open field, not over a pool or next to a garage. Lowering limbs in controlled sections keeps heavy wood off your roof, fence, and landscaping. When a truck can't reach your backyard, the right equipment and method make the difference between a clean job and a damaged property.

Protecting your property while we work

What we do: We use ground protection mats, a trained ground crew, and a clear drop zone, and we clean up as we go.

Why it matters: Heavy equipment and falling wood can rut your lawn, crack a driveway, or damage a sprinkler line. Protecting the ground and keeping the work zone controlled prevents the most common complaints we hear about other crews: a torn-up yard and a mess left behind.

Pruning correctly, not aggressively

What we do: We cut at the branch collar, remove only what the tree needs, and follow accepted pruning standards (ANSI A300). We don't top trees.

Why it matters: Over-pruning and topping stress a tree, trigger weak regrowth, and can shorten its life. Proper cuts help the tree heal and keep its structure sound. Pruning is also timed to the species and season, since oaks, maples, and flowering trees don't all respond the same way.

Agreeing on cleanup and stump details up front

What we do: Before we start, we confirm what happens to the wood, brush, chips, and stump, and how deep any stump grinding

Why it matters: Many surprises come from assumptions: expecting the logs to be hauled away when they weren't, or a stump ground flush when you wanted it deeper for replanting. Settling these details first means the finished job matches what you pictured.

Warning Signs a Tree Needs to Come Down

A tree rarely fails without warning. Knowing what to look for lets you act before a storm makes the decision for you.

Visible red flags

Watch for large dead branches, bark falling off in sheets, and vertical cracks or splits in the trunk. Mushrooms or fungus at the base can point to decay inside. A thin or bare canopy while neighboring trees are fully leafed out is another warning. Any one of these is worth a closer look, and several together are a strong reason to call a professional.

A new or worsening lean

A tree that has always leaned slowly is usually different from one that has started leaning recently. Raised or cracked soil at the base is a sign the roots may be failing. A lean that gets worse after wind or heavy rain deserves attention. Keep people and vehicles clear of the area until it has been checked.

Where the tree stands matters

A weak tree in an open field is a low concern. The same tree over a roof, driveway, or play area is a high one. Look at what the tree could hit, not only at how it looks. Trees near garages, fences, pools, and power lines call for the most care.

East Tennessee watch-list

Ash trees hit by emerald ash borer and hemlocks infested with hemlock woolly adelgid can decline quickly. Thinning crowns, dieback, or white woolly clusters on hemlock needles are common signs. If yours show these, have them looked at early, since treatment is sometimes still possible. Waiting too long can leave removal as the only safe option.

What not to do

Don’t wait for the next storm, and don’t climb or cut a damaged tree yourself. Weakened wood can break without warning, and branches near power lines should only be handled by the utility. If you notice any of these signs, Knoxville Tree Solutions can help. Our ISA Certified Arborist team will tell you whether the tree can stay or needs to come down, and handle the removal safely. Early action is almost always safer and easier than emergency cleanup.

What Our Knoxville Clients Say About Our Tree Services

“A big oak came down in a storm and landed right on our roof. The crew showed up fast, put protective mats down, and used a crane to lift the pieces off a little at a time. They cleaned up the yard before they left. I was worried about our flower beds, and they never touched them. Knoxville Tree Solutions made a scary night a lot easier.”

Emily Carter

Homeowner, Sequoyah Hills

“Branches were hiding our sign and scraping delivery trucks in the parking lot. The crew trimmed everything back, raised the canopy over the loading area, and hauled away every limb. They worked around our lunch rush so we never had to close. Now customers can see us from the road, and the trucks pull in without a scratch.”

Michael Reynolds

Restaurant owner, Kingston Pike

“I bought an overgrown lot full of privet and honeysuckle and figured it would take weeks to clear. The crew mulched the brush right on site, worked around the slope so the soil stayed put, and had it ready for survey in two days. No haul-away trucks, and no mess left behind.”

Landowner and small developer, Hardin Valley

Tree Services FAQs

Are you licensed and insured to work in Knoxville?

Yes. Knoxville Tree Solutions holds a general contractor license and a commercial pesticide applicator charter. We carry workers’ compensation and general liability insurance of $1M or more. We provide certificates of insurance to HOAs, property managers, and commercial clients on request.

Is your crew certified?

Yes. We are led by an ISA Certified Arborist, our company is TCIA accredited, and our team includes a Certified Treecare Safety Professional (CTSP). These credentials mean our pruning and removal methods follow recognized industry safety standards.

Do you offer emergency tree service?

Yes. We respond to fallen trees, trees on houses, roofs, cars, and fences, and trees blocking driveways, with 24/7 availability. Our crew secures hazards first, then removes the tree and clears storm debris.

Will you protect my lawn, roof, and property during removal?

Yes. We use sectional removal, rigging, and controlled limb lowering to keep heavy wood off roofs, fences, and pools. Protective mats cover your lawn, and a ground crew manages the drop zone. We bring a crane or lift when the site calls for one.

Do you handle stumps and cleanup?

Yes. We offer stump grinding after removal, including below-grade grinding, grindings removal, and topsoil backfill. We chip brush on site or haul it away, and we confirm the cleanup scope with you before we start.

Do you work near power lines?

No, not on energized lines. We do not cut vegetation touching or threatening live lines, and we send those jobs to the utility, typically KUB in Knoxville. We use Tennessee One Call utility clearance before any digging or stump work.
